Join us on Tuesday 12 November at 4pm for an insightful and informative webinar and Q&A session with Julie Sutcliffe, our School Improvement Lead for MFL and former National Lead Practitioner for MFL with over 30 years of experience in the classroom and large multi-academy trust.
The new MFL GCSE: Half term review
From September 2024, Year 10 students studying French, Spanish or German began the new GCSE specification with the first examination in 2026. Teachers have worked hard to incorporate the changes into their curriculum and their pedagogy, but how is it going? What have we learned from the first half term?
We will be looking at the new changes to the specifications that have been introduced, and how these impact on the different papers.
- English-language rubrics
- Prescribed vocabulary list
- Updated topics
- Emphasis on phonics: introducing dictation and read aloud tasks
We will also discuss openly how to incorporate strategies into your lessons to meet the new demands both at Key Stage 4 and earlier in Key Stage 3.
Finishing with Open Forum: what other challenges are you facing as a teacher of MFL at the moment? And what do you need? What would help?
