The following article comes from Nam Ngo Thanh, Vice Principal – B.School, Vietnam.

Why is global education important to you and your school?

At B.SCHOOL, global education is not just a concept – it is a fundamental part of our vision. We believe that preparing students for the future means equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and mindset to thrive in an interconnected world. A truly global education goes beyond learning English with native teachers or celebrating cultural diversity through international days. Instead, it must immerse students in experiences that foster critical thinking, collaboration, and social responsibility.

For example, our curriculum integrates real-world issues such as climate change, digital citizenship, and global inequality. We use project-based learning where students work on solutions to global challenges, collaborate with peers from different countries, and engage in meaningful discussions that push them to think beyond their local context. These experiences not only broaden their perspectives but also help them develop empathy, adaptability, and a sense of agency in making a positive impact on the world.

We see global education as a way to empower students to become changemakers – individuals who do not just consume knowledge but actively contribute to solving problems. By nurturing this mindset from an early age, we ensure that B.SCHOOL students are not only prepared for the future but are also shaping it.

How has the Global School Alliance benefited you as a teacher and the opportunities for your school?

Being part of the Global School Alliance has been transformative for both our students and educators. As a school leader and educator, I have benefited from the opportunity to connect with a diverse network of international educators who share best practices and innovative teaching methods. Through these collaborations, we have been able to implement interdisciplinary global projects, allowing our students to engage in authentic learning experiences with peers from different cultures.

For example, one of our most impactful initiatives involved a joint project with schools from Europe and Asia, where students explored the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Instead of passively learning about these goals, students worked together across borders to research environmental challenges, propose solutions, and present their ideas in an international forum. This kind of engagement deepens their learning, enhances their communication skills, and fosters a strong sense of global citizenship.

Additionally, the Alliance provides professional development opportunities that keep our teachers at the forefront of global education trends. Whether it’s through webinars, workshops, or collaborative projects, our educators are continuously refining their teaching approaches to ensure students receive the best possible global learning experience.

Beyond academics, the Alliance also strengthens our school’s international reputation, making B.SCHOOL a more attractive destination for forward-thinking families and educators. The opportunities provided through this network align perfectly with our mission of shaping students into global citizens who are equipped to lead and inspire change.

What benefits do you think this award will have on the whole school community?

Winning this award would be a powerful affirmation of B.SCHOOL’s commitment to global education and would serve as an inspiration for our entire school community. For students, it reinforces the value of their international learning experiences and encourages them to take greater ownership of their global education journey. Knowing that their school is recognized for fostering global citizenship will motivate them to engage more deeply in international projects, discussions, and initiatives that address real-world challenges.

For teachers, this recognition validates their efforts in integrating global competencies into their lessons. It highlights the importance of experiential and inquiry-based learning in shaping well-rounded individuals and will encourage our staff to further innovate their teaching approaches. Professional recognition also strengthens morale, showing educators that their work is making a tangible difference on a global scale.

At a broader level, this award elevates our school’s profile within the educational community. It provides opportunities to form new international partnerships, attract top teaching talent, and enhance our curriculum with even more meaningful global collaborations. More importantly, it positions B.SCHOOL as a model of global education excellence, inspiring other institutions to rethink how they approach teaching and learning in an interconnected world.

How will you use this award to motivate students and staff?

This award will be more than just a recognition – it will be a driving force for further growth and innovation in our school. For students, it will serve as proof that their efforts in global learning matter. We will celebrate their achievements through international showcase events where they can present their projects, ideas, and solutions to global challenges. Additionally, we will create leadership opportunities where students take the initiative in organizing cross-cultural collaborations, virtual exchange programs, and social impact projects.

For our teaching staff, this award will be a catalyst for deeper engagement with global education methodologies. We will use it to launch a professional development series focused on best practices in global teaching, equipping teachers with the tools and strategies to further enhance their lessons. It will also serve as motivation to expand international partnerships, ensuring that every subject area integrates real-world applications and perspectives from different cultures.

Moreover, we will use this recognition to further strengthen our commitment to student agency. Instead of solely implementing top-down initiatives, we will empower students and teachers to co-create new global learning experiences – ones that are student-driven, inquiry-based, and directly linked to pressing global issues. By doing so, this award will not only celebrate our past achievements but also propel us toward even greater impact.

What are your plans to develop your international work?

B.SCHOOL’s vision for global education extends far beyond its current initiatives. Moving forward, we aim to expand our international collaborations in several key ways.

First, we will establish more long-term partnerships with schools worldwide to create structured exchange programs. Rather than limiting international exposure to occasional projects, we want our students to have continuous, meaningful interactions with global peers through virtual classrooms, joint research initiatives, and collaborative problem-solving challenges.

Second, we will integrate more interdisciplinary global challenges into our curriculum. For instance, we plan to launch a “Global Impact Lab” where students work on real-world case studies related to sustainability, human rights, and technological innovation. These projects will be supported by guest speakers, industry mentors, and international experts, ensuring that students gain firsthand insights from professionals working in global fields.

Third, we will enhance teacher training by providing more opportunities for educators to participate in global fellowships, international workshops, and research collaborations. The goal is to ensure that every teacher at B.SCHOOL is equipped to guide students through an education that is truly global in scope and relevance.

Finally, we will focus on strengthening our community outreach by involving parents and local stakeholders in our international initiatives. By fostering a culture of global learning that extends beyond the classroom, we ensure that students see themselves as active participants in shaping a better world.

Through these strategies, we will not only enhance our international presence but also solidify our role as a leader in global education – one that is committed to preparing students for the complexities and opportunities of the modern world.
