Bidston Avenue Primary School

Bidston Avenue Primary School is a vibrant and inclusive school located in the heart of Birkenhead, Wirral.

The primary school has a long history of working with the Global School Alliance and the local council to further develop and establish the link between Wirral and Taicang. Taicang, a city in the Jiangsu area outside Shanghai, has links to Wirral as a twinned city and was visited by Wirral Council leaders in the past.

The pupils at Bidston Avenue Primary School have visited Shanghai and their partner school in Taicang three times, with their fourth visit expected in 2025. Children and staff from Taicang Experimental School have also visited Bidston Avenue many times, with the most recent visit in summer 2024.

In 2024, Bidston Avenue was presented with the Gold Level of the Global School Award to celebrate its long-term whole-school commitment to global education. Stuart Brady, Headteacher, said: “It is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our staff to provide our children with the very best opportunities. We are exceptionally proud to be the first school in this area to achieve Gold Global School Award status. Our partnership with Taicang transcends mere educational collaboration; it is a beacon of hope between our distinct cultures.
