Founded in 1957, Little Ilford School is a successful mixed multicultural 11-16 secondary school with 12 forms of entry situated in the London Borough of Newham. They are a proud, diverse and celebratory institution that enjoys an excellent reputation and strives to be an outward facing school working closely with the local community.
In February 2024, the school hosted a group of Chinese students as part of a cultural exchange between the UK and China.
Maty Vaquera-Mosquero, Assistant Headteacher said:
“Little Ilford School is a multicultural school with many ethnicities, so our students are already very familiar with these cultures. However, the experience of having students from another different culture, somehow unfamiliar to them was very rewarding. Having the “responsibility” to look after other students and explain the way education and normal day life happens in England was also very enriching for our students. Both visiting students and our students, became friends very quickly, and despite having being with us for only a week, there were many tears when it was time to leave. Many exchanged gifts and contact details. I hope these become long-lasting friendships.
