World Teachers’ Day (also known as International Teacher’s Day) is an annual event held on 5 October to celebrate teachers around the globe. The event was established in 1994, and it commemorates the signing of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the status of teachers.
The Global School Alliance is proud to represent a global community of passionate, dedicated, inspirational teachers who must be celebrated for their commitment to education.
We asked our educators to nominate an inspirational teacher who deserves to be celebrated.
Educators, do you know an inspiring teacher who deserves recognition? 🌟

Message from John Rolfe MBE, Global Schools Community and Partnerships Manager at the Global School Alliance.
“The Global School Alliance is proud to work with, and to learn from, so many inspirational teachers across the globe. As we celebrate World Teachers Day we reflect on the brilliant range of impactful international activities you support every day to motivate, inspire and enthuse students to allow them to enjoy a better understanding of the world, to experience and develop their appreciation of languages, cultural diversity and our shared Sustainable Development Goals.
Professional collaboration is key to fostering a world of educational possibilities and opportunities and our Virtual School Partnerships enable the sharing of innovative discovery and expertise; globally minded educators are central to this work. Our sincere thanks to you all as you are profoundly important members of the great conversation of humankind that we all engage in daily.”
